CGB^2 Takes over The Big Apple
So this post is weeks, hell even months behind. This past April my girlfriend decided to take me somewhere I've never been...NYC! i love taking trips and coming home and writing about my experience...kinda makes me feel like I'm being paid to travel. Welp, below is my experience, hope you enjoy.
Hotel: [Courtyard, .5 miles from Times Square]: To me, since it was my first time in NYC, it was a must I stayed near Times Square. Great for me, I there was a Courtyard about 4 blocks from everything. Take my advice, when all else fails, choose Marriott. [I suggest using your AAA discount]. The hotel was great, small by down south standards, but nice! What I love most about the hotel was the convenience. The huge H&M in the middle of Times Square? Well it took my 10 mins walking in 30 degree weather, to get there. lol
Attractions: [Times Square, The Empire State Building, Ferry Ride to Staton Island & Madame Tussauds]: Alright let me be clear...it was COLD. I don't be mean chilly either. I mean it snowed on Sunday morning, at the end of April might I add. Time Square was everything I imagined it would be. Too many people, too many taxis, a lot of security and so many lights. It was 3am and the streets were just as bright as the daytime. The view on top of The Empire State building was INCREDIBLE! You could see EVERYTHING..I believe I saw my house in Charlotte lol I seriously wish I brought my camera but it was too cold to be carrying a camera. We, as in me, chose not to go to the 100+ floor for the view. Sorry but I wasn't around for that lol. Oh yea I met Kim Kardashian! I mean, sorta, kinda, I mean...okay I met her wax figure! We got tickets to Madame Tussauds. It was cool to see Prince, Michael Jackson, Justin Timberlake and even J'Lo! You kind of look lame posing with the wax figures, but hell we did it anyway!
Nightlife: My favorite part of the trip. Disclaimer: Im not a avid partier in my city, however when I'm on a trip, I love the experience and have fun. I try to go out at least once. Well on Saturday night, we hopped on Eventbrite and found Level 3 at Stage 48. Purchased the tickets, I believe it was free till 12, and was on our way. First let me state, in CLT, you better be in the club by 12. Why? Because that's when everybody shows up and promoters think its cool to triple the price or play games. Being I'm a cornball I always get to the spot 20 mins before hand. We arrived to the club at 1130...Guess what, even though the flyer said the doors open at 1030, it was 1130 and they were CLOSED. Finally at 1150, in 29 degree weather, the doors were open. The club was nice. Kinda hood, open space. You enter in the 2nd floor, just to walk downstairs to dance and drink. The party tho....tsssss...NICE! Lets do our review:
STAGE 48 - LEVEL 3 REVIEW
ATMOSPHERE: 7 - They should up there clientele. I mean it wasn't bad but the dress code was too relax for my liking. There bottle service prices was AMAZING. I believe it was 2 bottles and champagne for $400 lol But the setup was kinda hood, but safe. My favorite to be honest.
MUSIC: 9 - I mean they played EVERYTHING, except Down South music...I mean being from the south I wanted to hear some Migos, Future...but nah, i got a lot NYC music. Nonetheless it was great. The best part was the Caribbean mix to everything.
PRICE: 9 - I think to get in, it was $20 which is beyond reasonable. Drinks were about $12, which, being it was NYC, I assumed fair. lol In Charlotte I pay $10 for Ciroc but whatever. For how strong they were, $12 is fair.
IBIZA? - FALUCKA LOUNGE
Well we wanted to check out this IBIZA club...got on Eventbrite again, just to arrive to the club and NO LINE...NO MUSIC..NO DJ...NO NOTHING. What a bummer. Well I had a backup plan Falucka Lounge!
ATMOSPHERE: 7 - I truly liked this place. It was relaxed, chill and felt like home.
MUSIC: 8 - For this to be a lounge, the music was great. Mostly Hip Hop but it was a cool, Top 40 mix and SOCA.
PRICE: 10 - I believe it was $10 at the door for guys, but Drinks and Hookahs were priced great.
OVERALL: If you want to chill and sit back...This is your place!
Overall, NYC was AMAZING. I did some shopping (no tax!!) bought some NMDs in Time Square, they were sold out in CLT and partied HARD! I met/saw some characters on the Subway [YOUNG METRO CARD] and I love how cheap Ubers are! If I didnt mind the cold, I would be up for moving here lol At this point, you're probably wondering, why is this blog titled NYC, 2x OVER...well its because I went back!
