Lights - Camera - ACTION!
Well if you read my previous post "Welcome to the West", you already know my 'Overview' & 'Hotel Accommodations for LA. In this post, lets review my nightlife experience and my recommendations the next time I will go back out west.
The worst part about going across the country to a city that's TOO BIG...It's too much to do and you don't want to be that person that missed out on the "right" "situations". OKAY- So here is the rundown with traveling and partying in LA:
When we landed to LA, we already did a little research on where we wanted to party. Greystone on Sunday was a must (they were sold out on Sundays until JUNE!), Saturday we wanted to find a club in Downtown LA and Friday, we had NO CLUE. Upon arriving to the JW Marriott, the concierge gave us a heads up about clubs Downtown that might interest us, but I must say, I loved her honesty because she told us we would do better partying in Hollywood vs Downtown.
Using our best-friend for advice, GOOGLE, we found this LA Club Crawl that caught our interest. There were several benefits and some drawbacks to doing the club crawl. First the drawbacks, you have to check in between 9 pm - 10 pm, which is really early but it makes sense for the experience. (If you're coming from the East Coast, this time won't affect you because your body is 3 hours ahead of this time.) Another drawback is, you don't know where you are going and you're hoping to go to the right club. (2 clubs we attended where just everyone apart of the Club Crawl party) The Benefits, tickets are cheap, its literally a $20 ticket that includes 1 Bar, 3 Clubs and 2 free drinks and you don't wait in any lines. Due to the fact that you visit 4 different locations, it makes sense that you check in at 9 am.
LA CLUB CRAWL: 3.75 / 5
Club Design & Atmosphere: When we arrived in Hollywood we met our host at the meeting location: Outpost. She stated that usually 80-150 people attend these crawls and we can could sit at the bar and enjoy a drink on the house. We drank, ordered food and got LA advice from the bartenders. I'm pretty sure we were the first attendees for the Club Crawl in Outpost...by the time we left 45 minutes later, it was over 100 people there. (Def go to Outpost if you're in Hollywood: good bar food, better drinks the BEST price.)
Music: Bar Music
Drinks: Cheap - $5 shots; $6 - $7 drinks
NEXT TWO LOCATIONS: To be honest, I don't remember these clubs. One they were extremely boring and two Jet Lag caught up to me. I even fell asleep. smh. I do remember free drinks at each club but I took a nap in the 3rd club for about 30 minutes. I think security knew I wasn't drunk but tired. Nonetheless I was GLAD I took a night because I needed it for the LAST STOP: LURE.
Club Design & Atmosphere: By far the best club we experienced while in LA. The club setup was nice, the music was great and the people were amazing. Lure played Top 40 and HipHop, I think I showed I wasn't from the West when they started playing YG. I went crazy. Overall the club wasn't crowded but it was full! I'm still confused on why people by tables but NO bottles.
Music: Hip-Hop - Top 40
Drinks: Moderate - $10 a drink
When we left Lure, I was TIRED! It was 5am CHARLOTTE time and I needed to be in my bed HOURS ago. Saturday when we woke up it was great because the NBA playoffs were already on TV! On Saturday we were on a mission. We wanted to find a club Downtown in LA.
While dining at Yard House, located in the Nokia Theatre, right by our hotel, we asked our server where should we go tonight and party. She named out some of the clubs around LA we heard before, Greystone, Supperclub, etc but we stated we wanted to stay downtown. We asked her about the Conga Room. We noticed that it was a Latin Club right in the Nokia Theatre. Our server, gave us her stamp of approval and let us know it was great Latin club.
CONGA ROOM: 3.5 / 5
Club Design & Atmosphere: The Conga Room was designed beautiful. The line was extremely long to get in, the reason being: ITS FREE but we skipped all of that for $20...a STEAL! Walking up the stairs we were greeted by two gorgeous Spanish belly dancers. They showed us the dance floor and welcomed us to the club. Conga room is designed BEAUTIFULLY with 3 separate rooms and a balcony that oversees LA LIVE. The Main room, with 3 bars and a huge dance floor, played Latin music infused with EDM and HipHop. This was truly a great club besides the fact of the annoying "Hype woMAN" on stage with the annoying voice.
Music: Latin - EDM - HipHop
Drinks: Somewhat Pricey and small. $13 for Ciroc.
